Every person who passed by our booth at Goodale was attentive and interested in our mission. This is something we have never experienced before or since"

Working Together & Playing Together

After a weekend of community service, it’s time to celebrate! Grab a blanket or some chairs and keep the green going on the 88 acres of Franklin Park Conservatory on Thursday, April 22 from 3pm to 10pm. Admission to the celebration is FREE. Earth Day 2010: The Update worksite volunteers enjoy special benefits at the celebration like a free scoop of ice cream or a free beer. Plus, the celebration is zero waste. Nothing goes to the landfill: everything is recycled or composted (so check the labels on the bins before you toss stuff in!). The celebration, like the worksites, offers something for everyone. Here is the Official Celebration Map.

  • Eat, Drink, and be Merry: it wouldn't be a party without food and drink. Most vendors are local and/or organic with options for every taste. Enjoy the pickin's!
  • Main Stage: leading local bands, featured speakers, and the announcement of the Earth Day Challenge Cup winners
  • Community Stage: a fashion show, the premiere of a multi-media show for kids, improv comedy and the Shazzbots
  • Kids' Activities Area: crafts, story time, face painting, games, biodegradable balloon animals, and more. Plus, look for a special visit by Captain Recycle from 3:15pm to 3:30pm.
  • Scotts Miracle-Gro Community Garden Campus and Education Pavillion: cooking demonstrations, campus tours, and more (here's the schedule)
  • Booths: learn about area environmental groups and businesses with green products or services

Epstein is co-creator, with Susan Bell, of “What is American Power?”, a not-for-profit billboard and website project to encourage responsible energy production and consumption launching in Columbus, Ohio in honor of Earth Day. Billboards will appear in Columbus on April 12. Time: 8:00pm   Location: the Veridian, inside Franklin Park Conservatory - this presentation is an Earth Day 2010: The Update event and is FREE
  • Foreground Dance: “Between Eye and I” – Foreground Dance was founded in 2008 by Noelle Chun and Yu Xiao. The company pushes traditional standards of where work is presented, often creating site-specific pieces that explore a visual relationship between bodies and natural landscapes. As a viewer, you are invited to design your own visual journey of the dance from any vantage point. Time: 4:00pm to 4:15pm  Location: around the Grand Mallway on the grounds of Franklin Park Conservatory
